Cushing Zoo
The Guam Zoological, Botanical and Marine Garden, better known as Cushing Zoo, is located in the heart of the Tumon tourist district and is surrounded by a high rise hotel on one side and a high rise condominium unit on the other. Despite the difficulties of its location, Cushing Zoo owners have worked hard to maintain the tranquil setting most expect from a zoo. While the lush, well-sculpted grounds of the zoo are not home to the standard lions, tigers and bears on display at larger zoos found elsewhere, a large variety of Guam's indigenous species of plants and animals can be found here, including some marine life. Of utmost importance to animal lovers, the wards of the zoo all appear content and well taken care of. Standard hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is a $10 entrance fee for 12 years and up while $6.25 entrance fee for 2 years - 11 years old.
How to get there: Turn left on Route 14 and proceed for about one mile. Just after the third stoplight, turn left in the driveway and drive to the back of the parking area at Mata'pang Beach Park. You need to walk along the right side of the park until you see the sign for the zoo. There is a large turnstile entrance that leads in from the park.
Time Factor: Less than 5 minutes
Distance: 1.5 miles
Accessories: Nominal entrance fee; quarters for animal feed dispensers
