EXCELLENCE IN TOURISM AWARDS
The Guam Visitors Bureau will host its annual Excellence in Tourism Awards to recognize outstanding organizations and employees. A suprise announcement of award recipients will be held on Friday, May 28, 2010, 11:30 A.M. - 1:30 P.M. at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort.

GUAM HOSTS OVER 100 KOREAN ATHLETES
(Thursday, February 11, 2010; Tumon, Guam) Guam recently hosted more than 100 top Korean athletes for winter training at LeoPalace Resort in Manenggon Hills, thanks to a collaborative effort between Guam Visitors Bureau and the LeoPalace Seoul Branch Office.
Three top Korean sports teams - the No. 1 ranked Jeonbuk Hyundai K-League soccer team, the Samsung Lions and Kia Tigers professional baseball teams – spent about four weeks on Guam for winter training in each of their respective sports beginning Jan. 12. Read more ...
GVB TO SHOWCASE GUAM AT L.A. TIMES TRAVEL & ADVENTURE SHOW
(Wednesday, February 10, 2010; Tumon, Guam) More than 20,000 travel enthusiasts will get the opportunity to learn about Guam this weekend as Guam Visitors Bureau hosts an exhibit at the Los Angeles Times Travel & Adventure Show, the country’s largest consumer travel and trade showcase.
On Feb. 13-14, GVB will join 500 other exhibitors at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where destinations around the globe will be highlighting everything from safaris to scuba diving, wind surfing to wine tours, and archaeology excursions to tropical escapes. Read more ...
GEF PA'GO GIVES VISITORS, LOCALS A LOOK BACK
(Monday, February 8, 2010; Tumon, Guam) At Gef Pa’go Chamorro Cultural Village, the spirit of Chamorro culture isn’t just found in the women who wear bright colored skirts and white blouses. And it’s not found in the gift shop, where handmade items like necklaces and coconut candy attract the eye of visitors from countries like Japan.

HAGATNA HERITAGE WALKING TRAIL NEARING COMPLETION
(Thursday, February 4, 2010; Tumon, Guam) The Hagatna Heritage Walking Trail, slated for completion in early March, will not only give tourists something to enjoy for an additional half-day on Guam but may also serve as a teaching tool for local communities who want to learn about Chamorro history.
Officials from the Guam Department of Parks & Recreation announced the 2.5-mile trek, which winds through 17 historic sites in Guam’s capital, is scheduled to be finished just in time for Chamorro History Month in March. Read more ...
GVB MARKETING DIRECTOR TO SIT ON NTA TASK FORCE
(Wednesday, January 27, 2010; Tumon, Guam) The National Tour Association has requested Pilar Laguana, marketing manager at Guam Visitors Bureau, to sit on the International Advisory Task Force at the NTA Leadership Team Conference in Washington D.C. on Feb. 6-7, 2010.

BELKA TOURS GUAM BECOMES ISLAND'S FIRST RUSSIAN TOUR AGENCY
(Wednesday, February 3, 2010; Tumon, Guam) The Guam Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce Belka Tours Guam is open for business as the island’s first tour agency targeting Russians and other eastern Europeans. The company first began bringing visitors to Guam eight months ago, starting with travelers from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Cyprus. By targeting Guam as an exotic vacation spot for eastern Europeans often plagued by cold weather, Belka Tours Guam has generated major support from potential vacationers. Read More ...
GVB VICE CHAIR JIM BEIGHLEY SPEAKS TO GUAM CHAMBER
On Jan. 27, 2010, GVB Vice Chair Jim Beighley, managing director for DFS Guam, spoke to the Guam Chamber of Commerce about how tourism and economic diversity – including that brought on by the military build-up - can co-exist. With an emphasis on finding solutions, Beighley spoke about how efforts by GVB, including implementation of the new Guam branding initiative “I am Guam, We are Guam” in villages and among Chamorros, and exploration of new markets like China, will lead to positive change for the island. The Guam Visitors Bureau ("GVB"), a non-stock, non-profit membership corporation, is soliciting proposals from established marketing/public relations agencies to act as GVB's marketing representative in China (Including Special Area Regions--Hong Kong & Macau) to assist GVB in promoting Guam tourism and achieving visitor arrival goals, and to act as GVB's liaison office in matters pertaining to Guam.
